THE Entertainer toy shop in The Broadway is the latest company to step forward and support the Telegraph & Argus Toys & Tins Appeal.

When we launched our brand new appeal last year, the company was one of the first to come on board and provide toys for children who would otherwise have no gifts to open on Christmas Day.

All toys and tins collected by our promotions team at the T&A are being donated to our charity partner, Bradford Women’s Aid, which helps and cares for hundreds of women and children throughout the year who are fleeing domestic violence.

The charity expects to care for around 800 families this year alone and Christmas is especially difficult as the mums usually have very few possessions and little or no money.

The T&A has had a wonderful response from companies, especially Tesco which not only donated goods but also organised for a collection point for items to be left in their Canal Road store.

Three Sainsbury’s stores have also leapt at the chance to spread some Christmas cheer and have donated toys and non-perishable groceries, and not-for-profit organisation Purely Islam, in Toller Lane, collected large crates of food.

The public have also been very generous again this year and have been bringing items into our reception and T&A staff have also made donations.

Nigel Burton, editor of the T&A said: “Once again Bradford businesses and T&A readers have demonstrated their extraordinary generosity.

“We’ve been delighted by the enthusiastic response to this year’s Toys & Tins appeal, but there’s still time for more people to play their part.”

Sally Deane, director of Bradford Women’s Aid, added: “This appeal at Christmas time will mean a lot to the women and children we support. It will mean that families with very little or nothing will have toys and food over the Christmas period which will bring some happiness and comfort to what would be otherwise a very bleak time.”

Volunteers from Bradford Women’s Aid will be collecting all the items from us around 10 days before Christmas in order for them to sort them into relevant age groups and then wrap each one.

The last day for donations is Friday, December 15, at 3pm. Please bring any items into our reception in Hall Ings, Bradford, between 9.30am and 3pm, Monday to Friday.
