FIREFIGHTERS are urging homeowners to get their chimneys cleaned now evening temperatures are tumbling.
A crew from Odsal turned out to a house in Thurley Road, West Bowling, on Thursday to put out a fire in the property's chimney.
It happened because the pipe from the woodburner had not been swept properly since last year and soot had ignited.
The crew had to put water up it to put it out.
A spokesman said: "People need to be reminded to get their chimneys swept before lighting fires this winter."
