POLICE are continuing to investigate the death of a lorry driver whose body was found next to the heavy goods vehicle in a layby off the Aire Valley Trunk Road.
The discovery was made by a passing motorist on Monday morning near the section of the road between Steeton and Kildwick.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The male, who is believed to be in his 60s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Inquiries are continuing, but his death is not believed to be suspicious.”
Bradford Councillor Andrew Mallinson (Con Craven) said: "Obviously this will be a tragedy for the man's family at any time, but especially on the run-up to Christmas. My deepest sympathies are with them."
The company which operates the lorry, Doncaster-based Emms and Son Limited, declined to comment.
