A man has been ordered by a judge to sign on the Sexual Offenders' Register after he was convicted of indecently assaulting a 19-year-old woman.

Kaldeep Singh Dulay, 43, of Ashfield Grove, Frizinghall, Shipley, carried out the sexual act after speaking improperly to the woman in July last year.

Dulay was convicted by a jury at Bradford Crown Court last month of an offence of sexual touching after a two-day trial. He had denied the offence.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Stephen Gullick, QC, was told today that Dulay was a carer for his seriously ill disabled father.

He sentenced him to a two-year community order, with an element of supervision. He will also be required to sign on the Sex Offenders' Register for two years.

Judge Gullick told him: "Your language was simply inappropriate and the jury found you did place your hand on the top of her groin, albeit for a matter of seconds."

He said it was "doubtless very upsetting for the lady concerned" and was in the context of a "wholly improper and quite unnecessary discussion, using language which was wholly inappropriate."

Sophie Drake, mitigating for Dulay, said the actual touching was "momentary" and he had not touched the woman's genital area.
