TWO people were found to be working in the UK illegally following a raid on a restaurant.

Immigration enforcement officers swooped on Zolsha at Cross Hills, in an intelligence-led operation.

A 19-year-old was detained pending his removal from the country and a 29-year-old has been ordered to report regularly to the Home Office while his case is dealt with.

Both are Bangladeshi nationals.

A Home Office spokesman said: "The restaurant has been served with a notice warning that a financial penalty of up to £20,000 per illegal worker may be imposed unless evidence is provided that appropriate right-to-work document checks were carried out, such as seeing a passport or Home Office document."

But this week the restaurant manger, Adnan Ahmed, told us he was confident the situation would be resolved.

He claimed the younger man wasn't even an employee at the Skipton Road premises.

"I am awaiting a letter from the Home Office and will respond accordingly," said Mr Ahmed.

"The older man is married and has been living in the community for a long time. He provided us with his National Insurance number and has submitted documentation to the Home Office.

"In the other case, the man was not working here.

"I've every confidence this will be sorted."
