Thirty cyclists on the second annual Jo Cox Way bike ride arrived in London today at the end of their gruelling, 285-mile journey in memory of the Labour MP – four days after leaving her Batley and Spen constituency in West Yorkshire.
Jo’s sister, Kim Leadbeater, greeted them as they arrived in Jubilee Gardens, next to the London Eye on the South Bank, in the shadow of Parliament. Her parents, Gordon and Jean, were among the well-wishers greeting the group.
The cyclists and organiser Sarfraz Mian were inspired by Jo’s zest for life and passion for people and communities – regardless of race, creed or religion. In this initiative supported by Jo’s family, they celebrated community spirit and raised money for the Jo Cox Foundation, set up to advance the causes Jo championed.
