THE jury in the trial of a man accused of raping a girl of 12 in a Bradford hotel room has been sent home for the weekend to resume its deliberations on Monday.
The panel began considering its verdicts late this morning and asked to view some of the CCTV evidence again in the afternoon.
Fahad Goheer, 22, pleads not guilty to two charges of rape of a child under 13 and an offence of meeting a child following sexual grooming on January 21.
Goheer, a student, of Fenton Street, Rochdale, told Bradford Crown Court he merely gave the girl a peck on the cheek in the room he booked for them at the Ibis Budget hotel, off Canal Road.
He spoke to her on the Periscope app after learning she was his number one Superfan on the device.
Goheer said she told him she was a 19-year-old beautician and it was her idea to book the room.
The girl told the police she joined Periscope in August last year.
She started talking directly to Goheer and he asked for her number and they spoke on the phone.
The girl said that when Goheer asked her: “How old are you?”, she replied: “I’m underage”, to which he replied: “Oh forget about that.”
She met him at the Forster Square Retail Park in Bradford and checked into a room at the hotel.
The girl said Goheer told her to use a false date of birth, telling staff she had been born in 1997.
She alleged that he had sex with her in the hotel room.
The girl said she felt disgusted and told Goheer to “get off and leave me alone” but he told her to shut up.
The trial continues.
