BRADFORD enjoys the fastest internet speeds in the whole of Yorkshire, new figures have revealed.
Broadband speeds in the district average out at 19.1 megabits per second (Mbps), almost double the 10Mbps that the government considers an acceptable minimum level of service.
The figures, compiled by consumer magazine Which?, are made up from the results of thousands of people using an internet speed checking tool on their website.
Bradford's result compares favourably to West Yorkshire neighbours Leeds, where the average figure is 17.3Mbps.
Craven web users clock in at at 14Mbps, with Calderdale on 15Mbps and Kirklees at 16.8Mbps.
Alex Neill, Which? Managing Director of Home Services, said: "Far too many households across the UK are suffering from slow broadband speeds, which can stop you being able to carry out essential daily tasks. We are encouraging everyone with broadband to use our speed checker so people can see if they are getting the speeds that they’ve been promised by their provider and find out how to complain if their speed is too slow."
"This will also help to further highlight where problem areas are across the UK, putting pressure on government and providers to help everyone get a good broadband connection."
