A 5K race for women and children looks set to raise a staggering £50,000 for a cancer charity.
Cancer Research UK hosted the Race for Life at Ilkley’s East Holmes Field today, with many runners dressing in pink and donning fancy outfits for the fun-run.
Area event manager Katie Mathers said: “It went really, really well. We had over 700 ladies take part which was really good and we hope to raise over £50,000.
“That’s very good, especially for 700 people.
“We have had a really good day. It was a really emotional day but it was really good, and the sun shone.”
The money raised will help fund research into combating more than 200 types of cancer.
