FIRE crews were called to Leeds Bradford Airport last night after an aircraft reported a system problem prior to landing.

The plane was carrying five passengers and three crew on an Eastern Airways flight from Southampton to Leeds Bradford.

Firefighters from Rawdon and the airport's fire service were called to the airport.

Eastern Airways have apologised to its passengers for the inconvenience.

An Eastern Airways spokesman, said: “The crew operating flight T3 4707 from Southampton to Leeds Bradford received a cockpit warning indication relating to the aircraft’s hydraulic system prior to landing in Leeds Bradford.

“The Jetstream 41 aircraft with five passengers and three crew on board landed safely at 8.15pm and passengers disembarked the aircraft as normal via the aircraft steps.

“As a precautionary measure the airport’s fire service was in attendance, but was later stood down.

“We have launched an investigation and engineers will be inspecting the aircraft.

“We apologise to passengers for any inconvenience, however the safety of our passengers and crew is our primary concern.”
