THE Bradford Literature Festival will celebrate 40 years since the release of Star Wars with a series of events celebrating the series.

The festival, which runs from June 30 to July 9, will include three events looking at the groundbreaking film series on Saturday July 1.

Award winning science contributor Karl Byrne will look at the science behind the sci-fi series during one event, asking questions such as if a building a lightsaber will ever be possible.

The Force is With Us brings together JAKe, the artist behind How to Speak Droid with R2-D2 and Tom Huddleston, author of Star Wars fiction for an event looking at the wider world of Star Wars.

Award winning author Damian Flanagan will host Star Wars: From Samurai to Jedi will look at how creator George Lucas was influenced by Japanese samurai stories.
