A LIBRARY in one of Bradford’s most deprived estates has been given a new look to mark its next chapter.

Bradford-based training company All Star Entertainment has teamed up with local residents to take over the running of the Holme Wood Library, in Broadstone Way.

Council budget cuts meant the library would have closed if no-one had come forward to run it.

The facility has now been redecorated, with new soft seating and a coffee machine, and today opened its doors to the public.

There will also be a family fun day tomorrow.

All Star’s manager, Suzanne Elster, said they were now calling the library Holme Wood Connect: Not Just For Books, as it would see "lots of different organisations coming together to create a timetable of different activities for the area".

She said the open day had gone well, adding: "We had 40 to 50 people through the doors and lots of different age groups as well, which is just what we wanted."

Anyone who wants to volunteer at the library can drop in to find out more.
