A SPECIAL delivery to Bradford's City Hall has officially marked the start of the General Election process.
The Clerk of the Crown sends writs all over the country to trigger the General Election process and today, a Royal Mail postal worker hand-delivered the document to the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Geoff Reid.
Cllr Reid holds the honorary title of Parliamentary Election Returning Officer for the Bradford East, Bradford South and Bradford West constituencies, although the practicalities of organising the election fall to Bradford Council's chief executive Kersten England, as Acting Returning Officer.
Ms England also runs elections in the Shipley and Keighley constituencies, where the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire, Dr Terry Bramall CBE, holds the ceremonial role of Returning Officer.
The Notice of Election for the Bradford, Keighley and Shipley constituencies will be published tomorrow, after the writs have been received.
The delivery of nomination papers will start on Monday, May 8.
