A CITY centre development of bars and shops has been shortlisted for a prestigious design award.
Sunbridge-wells, created around a series of Victorian underground tunnels, had been nominated for the Civic Voice Design Award by the Bradford Civic Society.
The development, which opened in December, has now made the shortlist in the award’s Historic Building category.
Shortlisting the venture, Civic Voice describe Sunbridge-wells as: “A unique project which has brought a long-forgotten network of historic tunnels underneath Bradford city centre back to life.”
In their nomination the Bradford Civic Society had said: “We simply believe there’s nothing like it in the UK, and we’re proud to have it in Bradford.”
Other projects shortlisted in the category include Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley, The White Hart Hotel in Retford and Winton Chapel at the University of Winchester.
The awards ceremony will be held in Parliament in Summer.
