FIRE crews had to cut their way into an industrial oven to put out a fire.

Crews from Cleckheaton and Bradford were called out to bakery firm Speedibake on Cross Lane in Birkenshaw (pictured) at around 5am yesterday after reports of machinery on fire.

When they arrived, they found that a large oven in the factory had caught fire due to a fault. It had ignited some insulation inside the machine.

A technical rescue unit was called in to help cut into the oven so firefighters could access the source of the blaze and put it out.

Firefighters managed to contain the fire before it could spread to any other part of the factory.

Nobody was injured by the fire and crews remained at the scene until around 7am.

The Birkenshaw factory produces muffins, sandwich baguettes and French sticks.
