THE FAMILIES of two Bradford singers who are through to the final of TV talent contest Let It Shine are urging Bradfordians to vote for them to win.

Danny Colligan, 24, and Bradley Johnson, 19, are part of five-piece band Nightfall, which was put together on the BBC One show after solo auditions.

The show, headed by Take That's Gary Barlow, aims to find five young performers to play a boy band in a new musical that will feature the music of Take That.

Danny's dad, Joseph Gregory and Bradley's mum Mandy Johnson both told the Telegraph & Argus that they hoped people across the district would pick up the phone on Saturday.

Mr Gregory said: "We are so proud of Danny. I might be biased, but Nightfall are far and away the best group, and they've had standing ovations from the judges for the past two or three weeks.

"They performed on stage with Take That on Saturday and this weekend Robbie Williams will be there - it's getting really serious now!

"We just need people to get behind them as it is down to the public vote this weekend, so we hope they get as many votes from Bradford as possible."

Mrs Johnson added: "We're very proud. They were just fantastic at the weekend. I think it will be a very close call in the final.

"For Bradley as a 19-year-old to be able to sing onstage with Take That as he did on Saturday, is just a fantastic platform.

"We just hope people vote for them."

Both Danny and Bradley attended Stage 84 theatre school in Idle.

Danny grew up in Clayton until the age of 16, then moved to Bingley where he lived until going to drama school. He went to St Bede’s School in Heaton.

Danny made his West End debut in the hit show The Book of Mormon in 2015.

Bradley is from Low Moor and went to Dixons City Academy.

As a child he starred in productions of Oliver and Peter Pan, and was in TV’s Emmerdale and The Royal.

He also appeared in 2007 film And When Did You Last See Your Father alongside Colin Firth and Jim Broadbent.

On Saturday the remaining three bands will take to the stage for the last time to compete in the final, which features special guest judge Robbie Williams.

After each band performs twice, the judges Gary, Dannii Minogue, Martin Kemp and Robbie, will give their feedback, then it is up to the viewers to decide which band they want to win the competition.

The winning five contestants will play the part of a pop group in a new musical, The Band, written by Gary Barlow, which will tour later this year.

The final is on BBC One on Saturday at 6.45pm.
