PLANS have been submitted to turn a five-storey office building into 40 apartments just outside the city centre.

The property, at 153 Sunbridge Road, has already had approval granted for 30 one and two bedroom apartments in the past.

If approved, the property, named Robert Jowitt House, would be the latest development of apartments around Bradford city centre.

The application has been submitted to Bradford Council by Hasnain Hussain, of Miller Knights Developments Ltd.

The company is currently carrying out development work at Lennon House, next door to Robert Jowitt House.

The flats will be used for student accommodation.

In the application, Mr Hussain said the application is part of a wider scheme to create 180 new apartments on the site, which would be constructed in a phased approach.

A planning application to turn Lennon House, in 149-151 Sunbridge Road, into 74 apartments was granted in June 2015.

Public consultation is open until March 2, and to comment on the plan visit the Council’s planning website or post a letter to the Planning Service, Britannia House, Hall Ings, BD1 1HX.
