NEARLY all of the new 115-metre high wind turbines on the hills above Oxenhope have now been completed.
The wind farm, which is owned by Yorkshire Windpower Ltd – a joint venture between E.ON and Energy Power Resources Ltd – has been the scene of a major project to replace its original 22-year-old, 49-metre high turbines after they were decommissioned last year.
A spokesman for E.ON confirmed that the work had been delayed by the weather.
She explained: "Weather conditions meant we didn’t complete construction of all the turbines prior to the Christmas holidays.
"Eight of the nine new turbines are constructed with only the blades of the final turbine left to install, which will be done as soon as possible in the New Year.
"The turbines will come on line sequentially in the first quarter of 2017."
Communities which will be affected by the changes to the wind farm are eligible for money from the Ovenden Moor Wind Farm Fund.
The fund is being managed by The Community Foundation for Calderdale, on behalf of the wind farm's owners. Visit cffc.co.uk/portfolio/omwf/ for more details.
