A MANAGER with Bradford Council’s dementia team says he is humbled to have received an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Mohammed Akhlak Rauf who attends the Doctoral Training Centre as a PhD student has been honoured for his services to people with dementia and their carers through the Bradford-based Meri Yaadain project.
He received his medal from The Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Meri Yaadain - meaning My Memories - is a Social Services adult and community services initiative set up ten years ago.
He said: “I am truly humbled by this recognition for the work. The work of Meri Yaadain has raised awareness. I hope the PhD will enable me to make a similar impact in supporting South Asian carers of people with dementia.”
