The Lord Mayor of Bradford and Bradford Council's executive member for children's services are to visit every school in the district given a ranking of "outstanding" by Ofsted.

A total of 12 schools, one nursery school and one nursery have been awarded the top grading by the Government watchdog.

During a visit to Copthorne Primary, which received notification of its outstanding rating in the spring, Councillor Colin Gill said schools could learn from the approach taken by head teacher Naila Zaffar.

"Mrs Zaffar has a dedicated team of staff and children who are given fantastic support by parents, governors and the whole school community - that really makes the difference," he said.

"I am taking the Lord Mayor to these schools because I want him to recognise what a fantastic contribution they are making to the district. We are getting better and better every day."

Bradford Lord Mayor, Councillor Robin Owens, said: "All 14 have been amazing in getting this accolade. Their hard work and success is a compliment to education in Bradford."

Mrs Zaffar said: "More and more schools in the district are being ranked outstanding - that shows we are getting there."

The outstanding primary schools are: Newby, Copthorne, Eldwick, Long Lee in Keighley, All Saints' in Bradford, Oakworth, St Anthony's Catholic Primary, Clayton and Killinghall, and Sacred Heart in Keighley. Myrtle Park and Netherlands Avenue primaries also achieved the accolade.

Carlton Bolling College is the only secondary school in Bradford to be ranked outstanding. Lilycroft Nursery School and Canterbury Nursery and Centre for Children and Families have also achieved the top rating.
