CITY Park attracted huge crowds to the first night of its spectacular Forest of Light event.
French light artists T.I.L.T. have used 59 illuminated sculptures to turn the park's mirror pool into a dazzling art installation, and thousands of people are expected to visit between now and Sunday.
The event will prove a big success if the first night is any indication, as a huge number of people of all ages descended on the park to take in the unique display.
The massive, plant like structures, lit up in reds, yellows and oranges and reflected in the pool's water, led to people taking photographs and group selfies with the stunning display in the background.
People of all ages attended, with lots of families and young children dazzled by the display. And those who came by train through Forster Square station were greeted by archways that were specially illuminated to tie in with the event.
The Forest of Light starts at dusk and runs until 10pm.
