A VAN driver has been bailed after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash.
The 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after the 71-year-old grandfather died on Friday night.
The incident happened at about 6.25pm in Idle Road, Eccleshill, where police say the driver of a blue Peugeot Bipper van struck the pensioner near the junction with Myers Lane, close to the Swing Gate pub.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the van driver was bailed pending further enquiries.
Police said the injured man was treated by paramedics at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later. His identity has not yet been released.
Witness have been urged to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team via 101, quoting log number 1416 of September 23.
