A BAN on tipping at Baildon’s Moor reservoir has now been issued by Bradford Council.

An enforcement order demands owner Andy Jones stops lorries delivering waste and spoil within a day of it coming into force on Friday, August 26.

Within 18 months he must also level off the part-filled reservoirs and sow them with with a mix of heather and grass return the site to a natural state.

But Mr Jones, who has lodged a planning application to build two large eco-bungalows on the site, insists he will fight the order before it comes into effect.

“My legal team are preparing an appeal against this enforcement notice and if the initial planning application is turned down, I shall appeal against that too.”

Gill Dixon, chairman of Baildon Town Council, said it campaigned for the tipping ban.

“I am pleased that a legal Planning Enforcement Notice has been served by Bradford Council. This has followed many months of discussion between Baildon Town Council and Bradford Council via the ward councillors for Baildon.

“It has been frustrating at times that it has taken so long to get to this point, but this legal notice we hope will put a stop to any unauthorised activity on the site.

“Progress has been complicated by the planning application for the same site

“I want to thank all the residents of Baildon for their vigilance and involvement over recent months, and patience, as we try to address the issues of concern

“The Planning Enforcement notice can be found on Bradford Council’s Planning website - reference 16/00031/ENFUNA.”

She said the council had also objected to the proposed eco-home development in the middle of greenbelt moorland.

“There are also concerns about the potential impact of the development on Barnsley Beck and the possibility of flooding as it descends to its lower reaches.”

Cllr Dixon invited residents to look at relevant documents available online.

Owner Mr Jones said in response: “If the town council are so bothered, why don’t they have a whip round and make me an offer for it?”

Ward Councillor Debbie Davies, (Con, Baildon) said:”I’m pleased the enforcement is finally in place, but very disappointed it’s taken so long.”
