PUPILS at Hanson Academy were in the driving seat of a fundraising venture.
Teacher Ismail Ghani organised the event to raise money for a water appeal and makeover of the academy's rooftop garden.
Businesses from across the district took some high-class motors including a Ferrari, Audi R* Spider and Mercedes to the Sutton Avenue school. Pupils posed behind the wheels and paid £1 for the privilege.
"I ran a similar event a couple of years ago and made about £1,200.
"We've already had a bake sale and made £360 which will go towards the money we make from the cars. We're hoping to get it to £1,400," said Mr Ghani.
"We've had a rooftop garden for a while now but it needs a bit more work and more plans to attract more pupils, staff and wildlife to it.
"The water appeal we're helping is through a charity called the Samaritan's Purse."
