A BRADFORD primary school has been celebrating the end of the school year with the staging of its annual play, which this year was Star Trek: A Musical Voyage.
Pupils from Year 6 at St John’s CE Primary School in Bierley, along with the help of the rest of the school, have been performing the show this week.
Written and directed by assistant headteachers Caroline Young and Kevin Dodsworth, and teacher Liz Baker, the musical tells the story of the evil Khan’s attempt to take over the Starship Enterprise from Admiral Kirk.
Teacher Chris Burton, said the children really threw themselves into the show, despite it being based on a film released more than two decades before the entire cast was born.
He said: “They have been rehearsing hard since exams finished.
“It’s a really nice way to bring the Year 6’s time at primary school to an end, especially after the stress of SATs and all the hard work they put in throughout the year.
“The audience feedback has been really positive, all the parents have said they loved the show.”
