BAILDON Carnival proved a hit with locals who braved a wet start to enjoy a range of music and activities on Saturday.
The event took place at Baildon Rugby Club on Jenny Lane, the third time it has been held since being revived in 2014.
Hundreds of people, including many children and families, enjoyed a funfair and various stalls, with the event also featuring a terrier dog race for the first time.
Organiser Peter Ashton said: “The day went very well, and the attendance was better than we expected given the weather.
“There must have been just short of a thousand people here, and the atmosphere was great.
“The stallholders were very pleased with the response.
“We ran the dog-racing for the first time, which proved to be very popular.”
A portion of the money raised on the day will be put towards hosting next year’s event, with the remainder set to be donated to local schools and community groups, who will be able to enter a bidding process to receive a share of the funds.
