BRADFORD City fans remain confident the team can pull off a great comeback in tonight’s play-off semi-final second leg.

The Bantams face a tough task to make it to the League One play-off final at Wembley on Sunday, May 29, after losing the first leg 3-1 at Valley Parade on Sunday.

City need to beat Millwall by at least 2-0 tonight (then win on penalties) to make it to the division’s showpiece.

But the claret and amber club’s fans still believe their side can turn around the deficit and continue their push for promotion to the Championship.

Councillor Richard Dunbar (Lab, Thornton and Allerton), who has been a City season ticket holder for more than ten years, said: “I’m 100 per cent confident that the Bantams will give it their all.

“What we have seen with Bradford City over the last few years is their hunger and determination to win and often against all odds. Nobody expected us to beat Chelsea 4-2 in the FA Cup last year, but we did.

“All the pressure will be on Millwall...Their fans are expecting them to win now. I think we will win 4-1 tomorrow night.”

City will be taking nearly 2,000 fans to tonight’s match but the clash will also be shown live at a number of pubs across the Bradford district.

Those who cannot make the trip down to south London are hoping an early City favour will take the tie in their favour.

Alan Carling, a member of the Bradford City Supporters’ Trust Board, said: “It’s obviously a tough one but we live in hope and anything can happen.”

Mike Harrison, editor of the City Gent fanzine, who has followed the Bantams since 1968, said: “I am confident that they will give it absolutely everything.

“They still have a chance. They have done ever so well this year.

“It is essential that they don’t conceded and it’s essential that we score first and sow seeds of doubt in Millwall’s minds.”

Emmerdale actor Duncan Preston, of Eccleshill, is also confident the club can turn around their first-leg deficit and get to the Wembley final.

He said: “They are only two goals behind.

“I just wish the City all the luck and hope they can do it, but I think they are going to need it.

“I listened to the first leg on the radio and they didn’t play well.”

Comedian Billy Pearce added: “I still believe in them and wish Bradford City all the best of luck tonight.”
