A TEENAGE student was horrified and disgusted to find she was being filmed naked in a bathroom by a "sick pervert".

Lorry driver Stephen Cole hid his phone where he could capture secret footage of the 14-year-old girl and take screenshots of her breasts, Bradford Crown Court heard today.

Cole, 41, of Otley Road, Bradford, pleaded guilty to charges of voyeurism, sexual assault and exposure, all relating to the same victim.

Prosecutor Jayne Beckett said he had "an unhealthy interest" in the teenager and secreted his phone behind a vase to film her undressing.

She was horrified, panicked and disgusted when she discovered it and found it contained a two second video clip of Cole hiding it away.

A second film showed her naked after she had undressed.

The girl confronted Cole, calling him "a sick pervert," Mrs Beckett said.

The police were alerted and the teenager also reported that he had exposed himself to her and sexually assaulted her by touching her indecently over her clothing when carrying her "bride style" up a flight of stairs.

Cole told the police what he had done was "madness" and admitted he had "a pervy reason".

A victim impact statement from the teenager disclosed that she had since self-harmed, had nightmares and become depressed. Her school work had suffered and she was paranoid that another similar device was hidden away somewhere.

Cole had no previous convictions but he had a caution for common assault.

His solicitor advocate, John Bottomley, told the court: "He is obviously a man who has some issues, which have came to light through this offending."

Cole was embarrassed and ashamed and two priests had provided character references for him.

"He has a problem with sexual desires," Mr Bottomley said.

Cole was using cannabis at the time of the offences and going through "a dark period of his life".

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC sentenced him to a three year community order with supervision and specialist help from the probation service.

He must do 300 hours of unpaid work and pay £1,000 towards the prosecution costs.

The judge made a Sexual Harm Prevention Order until further notice and Cole must sign on the sex offenders' register for five years.

Judge Durham Hall said the order was "tough, onerous, demanding and punitive" and would give better protection to the public than the short jail sentence he could mete out.
