THE Lord Mayor of Bradford will get a ring-side seat when she cheers on Bradford boxer Tasif Khan at his big fight next month.
Khan, who holds the International Masters title, is preparing to take on Ghana’s Isaac Quaye for the WBU World Superflyweight title on February 6 at Bradford's Cedar Court Hotel.
The Lord Mayor, Councillor Joanne Dodds, invited the boxer to City Hall to show her support and find out how his preparations are going.
Cllr Dodds, said: "Tasif is a great role model and does so much in the community. I wish him well for his forthcoming fight, which is a really big thing for Bradford.
"He is a great inspiration to the young people of the district with his positive attitude and dedication to the sport."
Khan said: "Obviously with it being in Bradford it’s a massive opportunity for me and I’m honoured to fight for such a title, which was previously held by top names like Ricky Hatton and Junior Witter.
"The fight is being billed with the tagline ‘Making History’, as it is the first title fight to be contested in Bradford. I am so proud to be representing my home city."
