A FORMER Premier League footballer, who is pleading exceptional hardship in an attempt to avoid a driving ban, had his case adjourned for a second time today.

Dean Whitehead, who admitted at an earlier hearing to driving at 90mph on the M62 near Bradford on February 3 this year, is facing another motoring charge at court in Manchester on November 13.

His solicitor, Saf Salam, told the bench at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court: "There is a further violation currently being processed before Manchester magistrates on November 13. That violation will need to be encompassed into this one."

Whitehead, a former Sunderland, Stoke City and Middlesbrough midfielder who now plays for Huddersfield Town, lives in Knutsford, Cheshire. He already has nine points on his driving licence and another three would automatically trigger a disqualification.

The 33-year-old was at court today and was told that his case would be adjourned until November 26.

It was previously adjourned earlier this month when Mr Salam said the papers relating to the new case had not reached the Bradford court and asked for an adjournment for that to happen.
