BRADFORD-based motor retailer JCT600 is driving forward its training programmes with another intake of apprentices .

The family-owned company with 50 dealerships has taken on another 23 apprentices, including in Bradford, A further five are set to join the business later in the autumn and by the end of the year JCT600 will have more than 100 apprentices in a variety of roles.. Over the last two years, the company has expanded its apprenticeship scheme and recruited a record number of young people. It again offered apprenticeships at most of its dealerships in Yorkshire, the North East, the Humber, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, including for trainee service advisers, apprentice technicians and parts advisers.

The apprenticeships run for two and three years and the apprentices gain NVQ Level 3 qualifications alongside IMI Technical Certificates.

The latest intake was recruited following induction evenings for the new apprentices and their parents , including at its BMW Bradford dealership.

Katie Saunders, HR director, said: “For a company of our size to have taken on almost 30 apprentices this year alone is a real achievement and quite unusual within the motor retail industry.

“We have worked hard to develop a comprehensive apprenticeship scheme which assumes no previous experience or knowledge and provides a complete and structured training and development programme for all new starters. The apprentices benefit from regular reviews, and their development is supported with on site coaching and mentoring as well as site classroom learning.

“The success of the scheme can be seen by the high number of apprentices choosing to stay with JCT600, almost 90 per cent from last year’s scheme, and we’ve also had a fantastic response to our 2015 apprenticeship drive, receiving hundreds of applications. We are confident that the 28 bright and enthusiastic young people joining us this year will fulfil their potential and make a positive contribution to our talented team.”

JCT600, which employs more than 2,000 staff, also expects to recruit around 30 apprentices next year with applications opening in April..
