ENGLAND international fell runner Tom Adams (Ilkley Harriers) won the EPILEPSY ACTION BRADFORD 10K in 31min 28sec (chip time).

Adams beat previous winner and course record-holder Tesfaye Debele (Leeds City) by almost a minute, while 13 runners broke 35 minutes on a dank Sunday morning.

Hannah Oldroyd was first lady home in 36:33, just outside her lifetime best. Jane McCarthy of Ilkley was second with a large personal best in 38:40, with Kirsty Allen (Baildon) a half-minute behind and next best over-40.

Mick Page of Doncaster was first over-60 finisher in 37:33, proving the quickness of the course. Simon Kingsnorth (Saltaire) was one of many personal records in 48:43.

The course had to be changed at the last minute due to roadworks at Hall Ings.

The organisers had been assured in advance by Bradford Council's highways department that this would have no impact but it necessitated a rerouting.

Epilepsy Action are trying now to get the distance reratified by UK Athletics.

The race, delayed from March due to roadworks on Canal Road, is due to return to its normal schedule on March 13 next year. This year saw 820 register but the traditional date should mean double those numbers.

The new BD3 Running Club was out in force, with coach Ibrahim Dar running in 48:04 and ensuring films and photos of the event were instantly uploaded to Facebook.

Epilepsy Action had earlier hosted what was the tenth and last ALICE'S RUN 10K in Mytholmroyd.

This race had honoured the death of one of their team members and had generated nearly £60,000 since 2006, with 2,400 runners taking part.

First man over the finish at Calder High School was Jamie Fradgley of Stainland Lions, who completed the largely off-road route in 36min 38sec.

Kirsty Allen was fastest in the women's category (41:45). In addition to the main race, 24 children completed a kilometre fun run.

The BRADFORD CITY RUNS takes place in a month's time from the same start-finish location alongside City Hall.

A kids' run and play zone is offered from 9.15am, with a four-lap half-marathon then starting ahead of a 5K and 10K at 10am.
