POLICE have confirmed that no action will be taken over an alleged assault involving the Bradford West MP Naz Shah earlier this week.
Labour MP Ms Shah had been invited to support a welcoming reception on Tuesday night for more than 100 cyclists stopping off on their way from Edinburgh to London on the 'Big Ride', an event aiming to raise awareness and money for children in conflict-torn Gaza.
There were reports of an argument outside St Mary Magdalene's Church in Wood Street, Manningham, which subsequently led to a complaint of an assault being reported to police.
Ms Shah told the Telegraph & Argus she had not made a complaint to police but said someone “potentially” might have made a complaint to police about her, and admitted there had been an "altercation", although it had not involved pushing or hitting.
This morning, a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police have spoken to the complainant about an alleged incident involving Bradford MP Naz Shah in Wood Street, Bradford, on Tuesday, and can confirm that no offences occurred.
"This matter is now closed."
