Bradford & Bingley's head coach Geoff Wappett is to leave the club at the end of the season to become director of rugby at North Division One club Hull.

Wappett, who has been released from the final year of his contract at Wagon Lane by mutual agreement, said: "I have had some great times in my three years with the Bees, especially the first two seasons, and there are some great folk down there.

"But this season has been extremely difficult with regard to playing resources, although the lads have given me everything. I wish everyone at Wagon Lane all the best."

Under Wappett, the Bees only won four of their 24 matches in their debut season in National League Two and have been relegated a year after winning National League Three North with arguably a better team.

In a press release, Bradford & Bingley RFC stated: "The club wishes to place on record their thanks to Geoff for his hard work over the past three seasons.

"During this time the club was promoted to National Two, the highest level it had ever reached in the structure.

"This season has been difficult with playing resources severely stretched. Geoff has maintained a positive and professional approach throughout and we wish him success in the future."

The Bees play their final home match of the season against relegated Barking on Saturday.

Back for the hosts come the Greaves brothers, Ben at full back and Phil at fly half, while Ali Chalmers returns on the wing.

Richard Hughes is rewarded for his stint on the wing last week at Redruth with a more familiar second-row berth.
