Police have started an investigation following the discovery of two bodies at a park in Bradford.

The bodies of a male and female were found by a member of the public in Bowling Park this morning around 6.30am.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Snow, from West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said ‘‘While the investigation is at an early stage we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances, but the bodies will be subject to a post mortem to establish the exact cause of death.

‘‘Formal identification has not taken place at this time but we believe the bodies are that of a local couple; a man aged 40 and a woman aged 35.

‘‘An area of the park close to Lister Avenue has been sealed off while the scene continues to be forensically examined.’’

No further details are expected to be released, a police spokesman added.

This morning a pair of police vans and a video van could be seen outside a house on nearby New Hey Road, with residents also reporting a police presence in Paley Road and Brassey Terrace.

A member of staff at New Hey Stores, on New Hey Road, said the couple were husband and wife, and lived on the street.

The worker said the man had visited the store yesterday to buy goods including a number of scratchcards, adding that police had asked to view CCTV footage of his visit to the shop.
