BISHOPTHORPE stretched their unbeaten run at Ferry Lane to two years with a comprehensive victory against Stockton & Hopgrove.

The visitors were the last side to win on the Bishops’ turf in May 2013 but a repeat never looked likely as their depleted side was bowled out for 98, Ian Holmes taking 4-19.

Stockton’s batsmen were unhappy with the wicket, but Ben Smith (67no) and Scott Clapham (29no) swept the hosts to their fifth successive HPH York Vale division one win.

Champions North Cave crushed Fulfordgate by nine wickets as Gate lost their last five wickets without adding a run as James Windeatt finished with 5-10.

Ovington were also nine-wicket winners as they romped home at Burn, who did well to recover from 16-4 to reach 137 all out.

It was not enough as Tom Ashby, dropped first ball, scored an unbeaten 73, figuring in an unbroken 127-run partnership with Pete Kelly (52no).

The fourth top flight game to produce a nine-wicket winner was at North Duffield where Ben Johnson bowled the home side out for 73. Darren Lovatt’s eight overs included a double-wicket maiden on his way to 3-13.

There were runs galore at Melbourne whose Tim Blackmore (87no) and Oliver Steels (48) enjoyed a third-wicket partnership of 112 to help their side to 211-5 at tea.

Craig Lawson responded with his own unbeaten 87 to share a stand of 103 with Neil Atkinson (51). That left Matt Walker to follow his 4-54 with a rapid 46 not out to speed Kelfield to victory.

Gareth Knight took a hat-trick in his 5-36 as Hirst Courtney won at Wheldrake to go top of division two.

But they were knocked off their perch the following day as Clifton Alliance successfully chased down South Cave & Brantingham’s 225-6 thanks to Chris Elliott (78) and Ali Wray (71no).

Stillingfleet skipper Phil Corfield had a match to remember as he struck 64 from 42 deliveries as his side struggled to 143 all out against Matthew Whittaker (6-39). He then removed Hemingbrough opener John Cockerill with a stunning catch before coming on to take 4-19 as Hemingbrough were out for 126.

There was a run-fest at Millthorpe School where Ovington II’s 226-7 was not enough to stave off Westow whose Mark Earle (90) and Matthew Shipley (85) enjoyed an opening partnership of 158.

Andy Green scored a stunning 120 not out in Thorpe Willoughby’s 163 as they lost by five runs to Burton Salmon in division three.

Coming in at 20-3, Thorpe were lifted out of the mire by Green whose innings included four sixes and 15 fours.

He shared a last-wicket stand of 68 with last man Michael Carse, who didn’t score a run.

Power-hitting by Freddie Littlewood (96no) and Dan Littlewood (62) swept Acomb to an 81-run win against Selby.

Simon Walgate reached 100 with the final ball of Thixendale’s innings against a well-beaten Ovington III in division four.
