ILKLEY Lido will make a splash when it reopens on Saturday with a fun day to start its 80th anniversary celebrations.

The Bradford Council-run site, which was voted one of the top ten open air pools in the country, will open up between 10am and 5pm on Saturday, charged at £2 each.

A programme of activities including the annual Solstice swim on Midsummers Day on June 21, and the Christmas dip on December 20, have already been planned at the Denton Road site this year.

The Lido (pictured), which features a children’s slide and a 45-metre stretch of shallow water, will celebrate its 80th anniversary which Friends of Ilkley Lido will stage a range of planned activities to remember its history, including building a photo montage.

The opening hours are noon to 7.30pm weekdays and 10am to 5.30pm on weekends from this Saturday until Sunday, July 26.

It will open every weekday from 10am to 7.30pm and 10am to 5.30pm at weekends during the school summer holidays.
