Anti-nuclear protesters from Bradford took a highly unusual step during their attempted blockade of the Faslane nuclear submarine base in Scotland yesterday. They literally glued themselves together.

In all ten people from the Faslane 365 group blockaded the north gate of the base. They linked arms then super-glued the skin on their hands together to prevent them being separated. Puzzled Military Police erected screens around the protesters as they tried to work out how to prise them apart without severe injury.

Ben Wells, a student at Bradford University, told the Telegraph & Argus from Faslane: "They mainly seemed to be military police as I think the protesters managed to take them by surprise.

"I don't think there were any serious injuries but all the women have been taken into the base.

"The men have been transferred to Dumbarton. We don't know if they are going to be charged yet."
