RESIDENTS were unable to leave their Bradford street after it was sealed off by police carrying out an early morning raid.

Officers investigating an assault, in which a firearm was seen, blocked off Yateholm Drive in Clayton Heights while they searched an address at 4.30am on Tuesday morning. No suspect or weapon was found.

One resident said: “I left for work around 5.30am. I was unable to exit Yateholm Drive as there was a police van and car blocking the road. An officer told me he was unable to let me pass.

“Once the road was opened there was a minimum of eight marked and unmarked cars and vans parked around the entrance to Yateholm Drive and Meldon Way, opposite the children’s park.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said yesterday that an assault occurred in Haycliffe Road, Great Horton, at about 2.20pm on Monday.

The spokesman said three men had since been arrested on suspicion of assault and possessing a firearm. A 21-year-old was bailed pending further inquiries. Two men, aged 24 and 21, remained in custody yesterday.
