PAYING all Bradford Council employees the Living Wage could lead to job cuts, opposition Conservatives have warned.

On Tuesday, the authority’s ruling Labour party said it wanted to pay all workers the wage – a move set to benefit more than 2,000 employees.

But deputy Conservative leader Councillor Simon Cooke (pictured) said while the move was “clearly of laudable intent”, he was worried about its cost.

He said: “We may see a situation whereby the council increases the pay of over 2,000 staff, only to have to make more of them redundant.”
