POLICE in Bradford have praised the public after the first of their ten 'most wanted' villains was jailed - hours after he was named and shamed.

Magistrates sentenced Michael Crossley to four months imprisonment after he was fast-tracked to court following his arrest.

Crossley, 30, of Radnor Street, Bradford Moor, featured in the Telegraph & Argus last week as one of ten prolific criminals being sought by police. They released mugshots of the most wanted as part of a new purge.

Crossley had been sought in connection with an assault and burglary in Allerton last November.

He appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court, where he pleaded guilty to burglary, criminal damage and three charges of assault.

Police said it was an encouraging start to the new campaign and urged the public to keep coming forward with information.

Detective Inspector Lee Speight, of Bradford District CID, said: "We have received a positive response from the public to help us trace these outstanding suspects, and as the jailing of Crossley demonstrates, this information is being acted upon swiftly.

"Our officers are fully briefed as to the descriptions of these men and are continuing to follow every line of inquiry to trace them.

"We encourage people to continue to provide us with information that will bring more of these prolific criminals to justice.

"We issued a public appeal, and released photos of ten most wanted offenders last September and it proved to be very successful. We hope that this latest initiative will be equally positive."

Det Insp Speight said officers had made numerous inquiries to locate the wanted men and continued to pursue every avenue.

But he hoped that naming them and publicising their photos would lead them to hand themselves in.

He added: "These men are not believed to pose a risk to the general public, but we urge anyone who recognises any of them, or knows where they might be, not to approach them, but contact police."

The men are wanted for a range of offences, including assault, conspiracy to supply drugs, and dangerous driving.

The remaining nine are: Kevin Tipp, 55, wanted for theft; Zafar Iqbal, 38, of West Bowling, wanted on recall to prison for conspiracy to supply class A drugs and money laundering; Jordan Conroy, 25, of Oakenshaw, theft; Miroslav Gurgul, 34, of BD7, dangerous driving; Ryan O'Neill, 21, of BD7, theft; Frantiser Potnoki, 34, of Shipley, trafficking; Sebastion Glowacki, 41,of Pudsey, trafficking; Liam Day, 27, of Queensbury, breach of bail for theft; Jordan Rawson, 22, of Drighlington, dangerous driving.

Anyone with information about them should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
