Richard and Lynette Evans live in this stunning detached home with their daughters, Sophie and Charlotte and two miniature dachshunds, Hector and Martha.

“We had heard about the development through friends at the school the girls were attending at the time.

“We bought from new and loved the house straight away. When we first drove into the development, the houses were laid out in among mature trees, making it feel like a park. “Once we walked into the back bedroom on the middle floor and saw the view, our youngest daughter told the salesman that we would definitely be buying the house and that the bedroom would be hers…we did and it was!

This is a lovely house for a family with five bedrooms, three en-suites and two family bathrooms. The area in front of the house has very little traffic and is great for children riding bikes. “The countryside behind the house has been fantastic for them to investigate.”

It’s a large house so even when there have been as many as 15-plus teenagers ‘hanging out’ the rest of the house and family hasn’t been impacted.

“We completely upgraded the kitchen as I am a very keen cook (as are the rest of the family). Included are a number of Miele appliances including a single oven, combination microwave oven, steam oven, ‘bean to cup’ coffee machine, warming drawer and dishwasher as well as some Siemens appliances such as a large warming drawer/slow cooker and induction hog. “The automatic programmes virtually cook a meal on their own! “

They have also upgraded two of the bathroom, changing the tiles to natural stone and putting in fixed, overhead showers as well as hand held and upgrading the sanitary ware. “We have also decorated throughout several times.

“I love the sitting area in the kitchen for its view, the snug - or small sitting room/study on the ground floor - is a nice quiet place to read a book and the living room is great for snuggling down in front of a nice cozy log fire.”

A few years ago the garden was designed to include some fruit and vegetable beds. “The fruits in particular have been an incredible success, producing way more than we can ever use so we have been able to give loads away to friends and family also. It is particularly nice to be able to cook our own sprouts at Christmas!”

Although this is, in every sense of the word, a big house, but not too big. “For much of the time it is just Richard and I as the girls are away at university and we do not find it too large at all.”

The accommodation is also very flexible…the snug started off as a study and bedroom five was a very large sitting room for the girls and their friends. My husband works from home a lot and it was decided to move into the top floor sitting room once the girls started to leave for university and turn the study downstairs into his sports room.

There are some great walks starting right out behind the house. “We regularly walk across the moors to Ilkley, catching the train back (after a quick refreshing drink of course! This is the thing that we will miss the most as we are looking to move out of the area due to Richard regularly working on the East Coast.
