A YOUNG people's charity is calling on schools, businesses, organisations and residents to share the love.

Rich Jones, who is chief executive officer at The Joshua Project in Great Horton, Bradford, has come up with the loving concept to get the community to shout out about its pride in where they live.

"It's an open opportunity for all who love Great Horton to get together and show Bradford how this this wonderful community thriving," Mr Jones said.

Although the idea has come from the charity based at the Impact Centre, it is not taking control of the project said Mr Jones.

"The idea is that it is apolitical and not driven by a single organisation or interest group," he said.

"It is simply for residents, schools, businesses and community organisations who want to see this community transformed through grassroots positive action - together."

Letters have been sent out inviting people and groups to go along to a series of briefing which will be hosted by The Joshua Project next month to make plans for a week of social action called the Love Great Horton Week.

Ideas to get the initiative off the ground include organising special school assemblies encouraging good citizenship, lesson plans, packs for residents and other community groups to take positive action to come up with their own project to improve where they live and finally come up with a grand finale community event to celebrate at the end of special the week.

"This is only a suggested plan and any additional offers of support and resources will be greatly appreciated," said Mr Jones.

All the briefings will be at the Impact Centre on March 23, the first will be at 2.30pm for schools, then 4pm for businesses, 6pm for community organisations and then 7.30pm for residents.

Mr Jones said: "This is going to be a chance for people to do something positive.

"It is open to anyone who feels that they are part of Great Horton, irrespective of political or historical boundaries - all who love Great Horton are welcome to support the week of action.

"Great Horton is such a special place. It's a very youthful community and that is something we have to engage with.

"It's also full of passion and pride. We want to have a special week in the summer where we can really shout about where we live and work and let everyone know just what a great place it is to be."
