STUDENTS at a Bradford academy have been praised for their role in a programme to give them business skills and make them more employable.

Dixons Allerton Academy is involved in the lottery funded Young Enterprise Company Programme. It is one of 30 schools across the country involved in the Be Enterprising, Be Successful project.

The programme gives the students an opportunity to plan, prepare and start a small business.

Two teams were established through the programme, Glitz and Glam, selling sweets and personalised key rings, and Fun the Photo, selling personalised mugs.

The teams had stalls in the White Rose Centre.

Fun the Photo was deemed to have the best looking stall.

Chloe McNeill, Young Enterprise manager for West Yorkshire Projects, said: “They were incredibly professional all day. Everyone commented on how well they behaved.”
