THE annual search to find Bradford's bonniest baby or toddler gets under way next week.

The first photoshoots for the Telegraph & Argus Happy Tots competition, now in its 14th year, run from Tuesday, January 27, to Saturday, January 31.

Parents who enter their children in the contest and be in with a chance of winning some great prizes, need to go along to the Kirkgate Shopping Centre in Bradford between 10am and 4pm to get photos of their youngsters taken by a professional photographer.

More photoshoots take place at the Kirkgate Centre between February 3 and 7, again between 10am and 4pm.

Every entrant will also receive a complimentary balloon for entering the competition, provided by Party Props, Queensbury.

This year there has been a slight tweak to the age categories, which are now mainly in months.

There are five categories: up to six months; seven months to 12 months; 13 months to 24 months; 25 months to 36 months; and 37 months to five years.

The winners in each age category will get a 14x10 canvas print of the child's photograph and a play pass to the Jungle at the Junction soft play gym at Black Dyke Mills in Queensbury.

The one overall winner will get a 20x16 canvas print of the child's photo, a play pass, character balloon provided by Party Props, Queensbury, and a £500 voucher to spend at the Kirkgate Shopping Centre, which has again teamed up with the T&A for this year’s contest.

All winners will also receive a trophy and all children who enter the competition will get a T&A goody bag.

Parents have to return to the Kirkgate Centre at a time and date stated on an appointment card to choose which photograph they would like to appear in the T&A Happy Tots supplement.

There will also be the opportunity to buy more photographs from Fraser Portraits at the Kirkgate Centre.

If parents fail to return to the Kirkgate and choose which picture they would like to see in the paper, then their child will not be entered into the competition. This is a change from last year when children were automatically entered.

All entries will be published in a special colour supplement in the Telegraph & Argus, with readers asked to vote for their choice of winner from each age-group category.

The three highest votes from each category will then go forward to the final for the chance to be named overall winner.

Last year's winner was then two-year-old Addison-Lee O’Reilly Broadbent, of Ravenscliffe.

After his win, his mum Victoria said: "It is his smile that does it. Everywhere we go, people compliment him on his smile and his eyes."
