AN INTENSIVE hour in the gym will help an athlete raise money for his entry in a Los Angeles sports competition.

Chris Woodhead (pictured) is representing Great Britain at the Special Olympics World Games next summer.

He has to raise more than £3,000 for travel, accommodation, training and entrance fees.

As a major part of his fundraising Chris will be sponsored to perform a number of lifts in one hour.

He will perform the fitness challenge as part of his training at Shipley gym Workouts with fellow members of the Bradford Sports Lifters group.

Chris, of Haworth, and James Crossley, of East Morton, will both take part in the powerlifting section of the World Games.

The pair have carried out fundraising activities together, and James recently completed a triathlon along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Fellow powerlifter Helen Burton, 45, of Bradford, has also been selected for the Great Britain team at the games.

Anyone who wishes to sponsor Chris should visit justgiving.com/bradfordsports to make a donation.
