A LAND Rover driver described as "reckless and irresponsible" by police has been issued with a warning by officers who watched him drive on to a pavement without regard for pedestrian safety.

Officers were in plain clothes on patrol in Bierley, Bradford, when they noticed the driver acting irresponsibly at a roundabout at the top of Hambledon Avenue.

The car was then driven on to the pavement "without any regard for the possibility of people coming out of the shop", said a police spokesman.

He then got out of the car and went to the shop with three young children.

The spokesman said: “We had no choice but to speak with him, unknown to us as the time he had three young children in the car and driving in the way he did was both reckless and irresponsible.

"There was ice and snow about at the time and he didn’t really consider the safety of his children or member of the public exiting the shops.”

He was issued with a section 59 warning under the Police Reform Act which lasts for 12 months, meaning that if he is found acting irresponsibly or the vehicle is used for anti-social behaviour, it can be seized.
