The Pajama Game Bingley Arts Centre HAVING seen classic musicals many times, it was refreshing to see Bingley Amateur Operatic Society’s modern performance of The Pajama Game.
The set was vibrant and busy, with a colourful, well-costumed cast and, for the first time at Bingley Arts Centre, a revolving stage.
Director and choreographer Paul Nowland has created some clever set pieces, not least the Steam Heat number. Emma Fearnley as Babe and Rob Durkin as Sid gelled. Ruby Hendry as quick-witted Gladys and Jonty Wilson as comic Hines were also impressive.
David Elliott as the aggressive Hasler and Chris Woodhead as the Skirt chasing Prez completed this strong team.
What this show has in spades is energy and the cast are enjoying themselves, which transfers to the audience. The orchestra complements the show with some modern arrangements. The Pajama Game 2014 feels and looks modern, vibrant and fun.
Runs until Saturday.
