The Telegraph & Argus Bradford and District Schools Awards are presented in partnership with Bradford Council and the University of Bradford along with the fantastic local firms and organisations who have sponsored each of the 12 individual awards.

The awards are officially launched today. But how do you enter?

The first thing to say is that nominations can come from anyone - be they a school wanting to highlight its own good work, an individual or group of parents who want to put forward someone for an award, governors who want to promote the good work being done by their school as a whole or individuals. . . anyone can nominate in any of the categories.

It's important to add that this isn't a popularity contest - while we want to get as many nominations in as we can from right across the Bradford district, it doesn't necessarily follow that those schools or individuals who get many multiple nominations will automatically be shortlisted. . . we're looking for quality, not quantity.

The starting point for these awards is this supplement. You'll find each of the 12 categories has its own page, featuring the criteria for each award and some information about the sponsor for that category.

Have a look at all the categories and decide which ones suit your school or teacher the best. Then on page 7 of this supplement you'll find a nomination form.

Please only use one form for each individual nomination, but we don't mind if you photocopy it if you can't get hold of another copy of the T&A and would like to nominate in several categories.

Please try to fill in all the sections on the entry form, and give us as much information as you can in the box reserved for that purpose.

If you need more space (within the 500-word limit), use a separate piece of paper and attach it.

Send your completed entries to Elaine Wilson, Schools Awards, Telegraph & Argus, Hall Ings, Bradford, BD1 1JR. The closing date for entries to reach us is MONDAY, DECEMBER 15, but please don't wait until the last minute to send in - we're waiting for your nominations now!

Between now and the closing date we'll be featuring many reminders in the T&A about the awards, and may feature some of the nominations throughout the process as a means of promoting more interest.

When the closing date has been reached, a judging panel will be assembled to pore over the nominations. The panel might decide a nomination is perhaps better suited to a different category, so we reserve the right to move entries into other sections of appropriate.

From those judging sessions will emerge a shortlist of three entries in each of the 12 categories.

Another special supplement will be produced in February unveiling the shortlists, and in March we will be holding a gala awards event for all those who have made it into the final three.

There is also be a special section on the T&A website - telegraphandargus.co.uk - where there will be an online form via which you can nominate.

So start perusing the categories, then turn to page 7 and get your nominations in as soon as you can - and remember the closing date of Monday, December 15.
