A SHIPLEY charity is among the winners of the Duke of York’s Community Initiative Award.
Carers’ Resource provides individually-tailored support and information for carers through its centres in Shipley, Skipton, Harrogate, and Ripon.
It has about 11,000 carers on its books, ranging in age from seven to 95, and offers support including guiding people to relevant organisations, help with form filling, help with benefits and grants claims, and organising a range of respite support.
The award assessors said of the services offered to carers: “The support they receive is unparalleled.”
Carolyne Coyle, communications and inclusion co-ordinator at Carers’ Resource in Shipley, said: “This award is a wonderful accolade for the carers, volunteers, trustees and staff as it reflects the important and valued role our community — the carers and their families — play in our organisation.
“This includes listening to carers, inviting them to inclusion lunches where they can speak to us, and this helps us to make sure the right support is in place.”
